Click-to-filter helps you analyze specific metrics on a chart or diagram in greater detail. When you apply a click-to-filter to a metric, related widgets dynamically adjust their data and display information relevant to that metric.

To apply a click-to-filter:

  1. Click a value in the widget. The value appears in the filter panel at the top. Click to filter
  2. Click the checkmark. Apply filter
  3. The filter has been applied. Filter applied

To remove a filter, click the value in the widget again and press the cross icon.

Clear filter

You can also clear the filter from the top filter panel by clicking the cross icon to the right of the applied filter’s name.

Clear filter via panel

To clear all applied click-to-filters at once, click the eraser icon to the left of the filter names.

Clear all click-to-filters

To change a filter value, click it and select the desired option.

Click Filter Behavior Notes

When using click-to-filter, keep the following points in mind:

  • Filters can only be applied to dimensions
  • The filter is also applied when the widget loses focus
  • Click-to-filter is available only in Browse mode
  • Clicking a selected value immediately applies filtering to other widgets
  • In widgets with two dimensions (e.g., a Pivot Table), filtering applies to only one dimension at a time—either rows or columns

Filter Types

Available filter types depend on the data type of the dimension’s column.

For String data type, the following filter types are available:

  • Selected — displays only the selected values
  • Excluded — displays all values except the selected ones
  • Equal to — enter a column value to display matching data
  • Not equal to — enter a column value to exclude matching data
  • Starts with — enter a prefix to filter data that begins with it
  • Ends with — enter a suffix to filter data that ends with it
  • Contains — enter a substring to filter data that includes it
  • Does not contain — enter a substring to exclude data that includes it
  • Empty values — filters data where the selected column is empty (blank field or Null)
  • Non-empty values — filters data where the selected column is not empty

String filter types

For Integer and Float data types:

  • In the range — displays data within a specified range. If the left boundary is empty, the minimum value is used; if the right boundary is empty, the maximum value is used
  • Not in range — displays data outside the specified range (boundary logic same as above)
  • Selected — displays only the selected values
  • Excluded — displays all values except the selected ones
  • Empty values — filters data where the selected column is empty (0 or Null)
  • Non-empty values — filters data where the selected column is not empty

Numeric filter types

For DateTime data type:

  • Last time — displays data from the most recent period. Select a time unit (days, months, or years) and specify the quantity
  • In the range — displays data within a selected date range (choose dates from the calendar)
  • Not in range — displays data outside the selected date range
  • Selected — displays data for the selected dates
  • Excluded — displays data for all dates except the selected ones
  • Equal to — displays data for the selected date
  • Not equal to — displays data for all dates except the selected one
  • Later than — displays all data after the selected date
  • Earlier than — displays all data before the selected date
  • Not later — displays data on or before the selected date
  • Not earlier — displays data on or after the selected date
  • Empty values — filters data where the selected column is empty (1970-01-01 00:00:00 or Null)
  • Non-empty values — filters data where the selected column is not empty

Filtering by Arbitrary Attribute

You can apply a filter by an arbitrary attribute even if the corresponding dimension is not displayed in any widget.

To apply such a filter, click the icon next to the dashboard page title.

Open filter

The filter panel includes a search function.

Filtering is possible by:

  • Workspace dimensions
  • Dashboard dimensions
  • Tables and columns
