Docker Containers
ClickHouse Container Images
Operavix does not add unused libraries or packages.
Container images, containers, container startup parameters, and container configuration files do not store sensitive information (passwords in files, hard‑coded passwords, keys, logins). Logins and password hashes are provided via Docker Secrets.
The container image is always signed by Operavix.
ClickHouse Logging
The ClickHouse container writes logs to a separate volume: operavixclickhouse-log. To view the logs, attach and run a container with the required volume, for example:
docker run -it --rm -v=operavixclickhouse-log:/mnt/volume ubuntu bash
Inside the container, run:
tail -n 200 -f /mnt/volume/clickhouseserver.log
Host machine logs are not customized and are located by default in /var/log/….
How Docker Secrets Work
Using secrets allows passwords and private keys not to be transmitted in plain text (into Docker containers).
Currently, the following values are passed via secrets:
- Login for connecting to ClickHouse
- Password hash for connecting to ClickHouse
- Certificate (for HTTPS)
- Private key (for HTTPS)
- Diffie–Hellman key (for HTTPS)
Access to secrets is granted at the time the service is created and cannot be changed afterward. To make changes, delete the service and create it again.
All secrets are stored in encrypted form in Docker Swarm.
When a container starts, Docker Swarm mounts secrets as files in the /run/secrets/… directory.
Deploying ClickHouse in a Docker Container
Deployment is performed in accordance with the ClickHouse database installation instructions.
