Basic settings are available in the widget’s Data tab. Here you can define the title and description, configure dimensions and measures, set up sorting, and optionally modify the widget key.

Data tab

Title

In the Enter title field, you can specify a widget name—this title will appear at the top of the widget. You can customize the title’s font size, color, and style (regular or bold).

This field is optional.

Description

The description allows you to add explanatory text to the widget. To enable it, toggle the switch next to the setting name.

In the description, you can:

  • Use Markdown syntax for text formatting. When enabled, an info icon appears next to the description field; clicking it displays a tooltip with Markdown syntax reminders and formatting examples.
  • Insert variable values using the ${Variable Name} format. Variables in Markdown
  • Add measures using the + Measure button and display their values by referencing the measure name in curly braces: {Measure Name} Adding a measure
Note

Titles and descriptions cannot be set for the Text widget.

Advanced Markdown Editor

The Advanced Markdown Editor can be used in view titles, widget descriptions, and the Text widget. Like the parameter field, this editor enables rich text formatting—adding links, highlights, and other markup elements—for clearer and more visually effective information presentation.

Indicators

Widgets are built by adding indicators—elements that form the widget’s content. Indicators include dimensions and measures.

A dimension defines the attribute by which data is segmented—for example, date, category, user, or region. Dimensions are used to group and drill down into data.

A measure represents a numeric or calculated value that is aggregated, measured, or compared—for example, sum, count, average, or percentage.

The available indicators and their quantity depend on the widget type.

For each added dimension or measure, you can specify a name, select a data source, and apply additional settings such as display options or click actions.

For indicators with numeric or date values, you can configure format and formatting. The format defines the display type (e.g., number, duration, year, percentage, etc.), while formatting controls how the value is presented (e.g., thousand separators, decimal places, percent or currency symbols). Formatting can be selected from predefined options or defined manually.

Sorting

You can configure data sorting for the widget. Available sorting options depend on the widget type and the dimensions and measures used.

Key

This field displays the widget’s key.

The key is used in YAML markup to define the widget’s position within the view structure and when creating widget links in descriptions using Markdown.

The key is generated automatically but can be edited if a more descriptive name is needed—for example, when structuring a generated view in YAML.

The key must be unique within the view.
